It may shock you, but coronary heart disease (CHD) and stroke kill more Americans every year than all cancers combined. There's often a single cause: atherosclerosis, or athero for short. It's the progressive buildup of plaque in your arteries and it’s linked to about 1 in 4 deaths in the US each year. It's time we did something about it.
